I got a question via e-mail: Are there any effective "natural," "green," "home remedy" mouse deterrents?

To get the best answer, I consulted rodentologist Bobby Corrigan of RMC Pest Management Consulting. His response:

There are several rodent deterrents and so called repellents available for mice and rats, but there is no and never has been any sound science on any of these compounds. The essential oils of the various mints and wintergreens, etc, have value only in laboratory settings and chemical-sensory reactions, etc. But nothing real-world thusfar. Maybe future research will take us there, but nothing yet.

I want to thank Dr. Corrigan for his expert advice!
